This academic year we continued our partnerships with the Colleges of Arts, Sciences & Education, Engineering & Computing, and the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work, as well as the Division of Research, in order to bring you an expanded assortment of speakers and workshops.

Mentor Program Lunch Meeting Spring 2020

Join us for the Spring 2020 Mentor Program Lunch. All faculty in the Faculty Mentor Program are invited to come with their mentors or mentees for a casual lunchtime gathering with colleagues.

Public Writing Workshop

Friday, January 31
10:00am-1:00pm, AHC4-402, MMC

This workshop is designed to help academics write for broader audiences in popular media, and will address topics such as pitching ideas, writing more accessibly, and working with nonacademic editors.

Lunch will be provided from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Participants will have the opportunity to sign up for individual thirty minute sessions with one of the panelists from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Lunch will be provided by UFF-FIU from noon-1:00pm, and all are welcome to attend.

Please join the United Faculty of Florida (UFF) and Florida International University (FIU) in our annual Tenure & Promotion Workshop. Each year, individuals from the provost’s office, as well as deans and associate deans who examine promotion files, offer their advice regarding what’s expected at FIU with respect to promotions.

Feel free to come prepared with key questions regarding the processes and approaches administrators tend to take when reviewing files.

UK/EU/US: Grant Application Experiences From Both Sides of the Pond

Intellectual Property: Things You Should Know and Pitfalls

Presented by Peter Hernandez, Director of Technology Management and Commercialization in the FIU Office of Research and Economic Development.

This workshop, led by an industry veteran with 30 years of experience, will cover key elements of intellectual property management, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights.
