2012-2013

The CAS-CEC Faculty Mentor Program sponsors workshops on topics including grantwriting, leadership, tips for tenure and summer planning, as well as regular networking lunches at the Faculty Club. The popular and well-received University of Michigan CRLT Theatre group returned in Spring 2013 with their performance of Navigating Departmental Politics on February 28, 2013.

A variety of mentoring workshops and events were held to assist mentor pairs in achieving a successful relationship. Mentees (new assistant professors) were matched with mentors (established associate or full professors) from different departments who shared research interests or disciplinary demands.

Workshop materials, activities and strategies were derived from academic research on faculty mentoring from successful faculty mentor programs at other universities, including UCLA and University of Michigan.
