STRIDE Requirement

The faculty committee on Strategies and Tactics for Recruiting to Increase Diversity and Excellence (STRIDE) offers Faculty Recruitment Workshops for faculty members serving on search committees or those who want to be eligible to serve. These workshops are designed to provide background information and concrete advice about practices that make searches more successful (in producing diverse candidate pools and hiring candidates).

Attendance is required once every three years for faculty serving on search committees. A list of attendees that are STRIDE-certified is available here. Search committee members do NOT have to come as a group; feel free to sign up for a workshop at a time convenient to you. If you remember coming previously and are not on the list, that means it is time for you to renew your attendance.

Twelve STRIDE workshops were offered during the Fall 2019 semester. If you'd like to know more about STRIDE, please contact

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access (IDEA) Requirement
(formerly Equal Opportunity Programs & Diversity)

All search committee members must attend the IDEA/EO training EACH year they are on a search committee. For your convenience, IDEA/EO Director Shirlyon McWhorter and her staff will provide the IDEA/EO training during the first 30 minutes at each workshop. You are welcome to only attend the IDEA/EO part if you have already met the STRIDE requirement. You may also arrange an IDEA/EO training for your committee on your own. Please contact: 305-348-2785.
